Installation pictures of Pergo XP Highland Hickory
Here are some pictures of the finished floor. Don't mind the cats, they like to insert themselves into every picture. These are crappy cell phone pics, better quality pics coming.
I also decided to get the Pergo Xp Highland Hickory after viewing your photos. I am extremely happy with the way my floors are turning out. I was going to put down wood at first, but the durability of the Pergo beat out practically every wood product I sampled. Thanks for your photos. I'm one of those people who need to see it installed by someone else first.
Beautiful! I too was getting wood floors. SO GLAD I went with Pergo XP. If you have a dog, Pergo XP is excellent. At the store I usually sweep up as much debris as I can and throw it on all the floor selections I have made. the one I pick is the one that doesn't show the dirt.
Nice work. I too put Highland Hickory in my place and it looks great. I had Mohawk 8mm for the last 3 years and it wasn't wearing well. I think I'll have better luck with Pergo.
Very good resistance to water. Pergo says not to let water sit longer than 30 minutes but I have wiped up spills from the night before and not had damage.
For the price, I can't complain so far. I have some dings and dents from dropping sharp heavy objects though. I also had a couple of corners chip because the planks lifted due to the floor not being flat enough. A brown crayon fixed those.
My next floor will be hardwood, but not for many years.
Your floor looks awesome! What do you use to clean it with? Mine has a dull haze, ive been using the swiffer cleaner, i spray it on and use a micro fiber cloth to clean it but i still get a dull haze. In your pictures yours look like they have a sheen to them.
All we use is warm water on a mop that has a terry cloth pad. Also, these pics were taken only a few days after I finished the install so they were brand new.
Your floors look wonderful. We are having the Highland Hickory XP installed in the master bedroom. My husband and I have installed Pergo Hickory in the sewing room about 10 years ago. We have 6 dogs and it has held up way better than wood flooring with all those nails and tracked in stuff. We installed a different laminate brand in the study and that has not held up nearly so well. I clean with water and just a little vinegar in the water. Thank you for your posting.
Thank you very much for the sharing your experience. What did you use as an underlayment? You mentioned that the floor wasn't flat enough. Just how flat does it have to be? Your home looks like relatively new construction. I'd like to install Pergo XP in a very old building - wood floors on 2nd floor damaged beyond repair.
No underlayment. Pergo XP has a foam padding already attached to each plank. I used roofing shingles and hardi board to raise low sections of the floor. My house was about 5 years old at the time but making the floor flt was not a priority for the builder. I spent a lot of time trying to get things flattened out so the planks wouldn't separate. I forget what the specs are Pergo calls for but they should have it on their website. The preparation was the most amount of work.
So can I expect better install and product from an independent e.g. McSwain in Cincinnati, OH..... Also would Lumber Liquidators or Cabinets to Go have the same quality of flooring as HD, Menard's and Lowes?
Your floors looks gorgeous, we are getting ready to put this in our bedroom.
ReplyDeleteWe got the Pergo Max and it did have a cardboard bottom to the boxes of planks, I had to run check after reading your main post about it.

ReplyDeleteAre you, by any chance, owed beer and travel money, and many experiences?
ReplyDeleteWhats the duribility against water. The last laminate floor I put in buckeled up on the seams where they joined together.

ReplyDeleteI'm contemplating Pergo XP for my kitchen and am wondering how yours has held up a year and half later...

DeleteGreat job. Did you put your baseboards on top of the Pergo floor. It seems to have a cleaner look when you don't use the 1/4 round on the baseboard.

ReplyDeleteI did. It involved quite a bit more work, but I don't like the look of quarter round.
